After careful consideration, Guayaquil to Buenos Aires in about five weeks by bus seems to be an attainable goal for this trip, but a bit to ambitious to set in stone. I built up Buenos Aires, Mendoza, and Bariloche as these amazing places, as I am sure they are, but Argentina may be best for another time. So, I canceled the flight that I bought just two days ago in order to allow for more malleable plans. I guess I will have to settle for the our first objective, and only real definite plans, attaining the summit of the the highest point in Ecuador, the farthest point from the center of the earth, the Woman of Ice, the volcano, Chimborazo.
Our rough itinerary includes: Ecuador: Quito, Chimborazo, Riobamba, Cuenca, Machala; Peru: Tumbes, Trujillo, Huaraz, Lima, Cuzco, Lake Titicaca; Boliva: La Paz. Planning on being back well before Mom's arrival on March 12! My goals: two-week Spanish emmersion, exploring some Inca Ruins, trekking in the Andes, and experiencing the downhill mtb scene in one of the above countries.
